Una giovane aspirante scrittrice, intelligente e dolce, Edith Cushing donna [ La regia, le ambientazioni, i costumi, la fotografia, la recitazione di tutti i personaggi, in questo suo ultimo lavoro, raggiungono [ I fantasmi esistono, io lo so!.

Con questa frase si apre il film di Guillermo del Toro ad alta impronta gotica, richiama l'horror ma non lo incarna e sposa perfettamente il gusto del macabro.

Una storia come tante, ma tratteggiata in modo sublime alla regia, ed altrettanto ben recitata: [ Del Toro poteva percorrere con profitto il mainstream del melodramma e invece si limita alla pur eccellente ambientazione.

Invece ecco che Guillermo Del Toro mi smentisce, facendo uscire nelle sale [ Guillermo Del Toro fa fiasco in tutti i sensi, non riesce a centrare niente se non una buona fotografia e delle bene scenografie, ma purtroppo non basta a farne un film buono.

Grande cast che non convince assolutamente a casua di una direzione degli attori pessima, colpa, il regista. La storia non mi ha convinto e ho trovato i dialoghi piuttosto banali, per cui dopo [ Voti decisamente troppo alti.
